about

I think things that can be copied easily should be free, but those who want to value things with value can pay whatever they want.

Don't know where to start here. Felt wonderful to finish this one off. I wanted a quick way to show the "heart" of each track and also to have one to play in various situations where you want it to just motor along all the way through. I decided to do hard cuts (most common transition in a movie, annoyingly) rather than transition gradually. The order of the bits was most important. They kind of flow nicely this way anyway.

This is the culmination really of 5 years of huge passion about music that I've never had before in my life, tons of time researching, lisening, dancing, and playing and practicing on various instruments.

There are local sampled sounds (frizzle rooster, bubblegum popping, whistle, rock sploosh, etc.), modified and tailored built-in sounds of various equipment, sounds built up from scratch on analog and/or modelling synths, and my own voice (usually modified with a Roland VT-3 voice transformer, because this is much more fun).

This track has to be listened to loud, many times, with a fairly good sound system or headphones to be really appreciated. There are a lot of subtle surprises of timing, phrasing, timbre and mood, as well as effects like panning. There's good value here and this is not a track you will tire of listening to.

All my edits have 5 things: Me, Others, Technology, Real Time Improvisation, and "Mistakes". I have been researching & playing with music intensely since 2011 on the Numark NS6. The screen shot is a sound grab from Sunset Room in Victoria, BC, using an ipod app. I recommend playing these tracks quite loud and downloading the better quality files. Music is fragile; handle with care. ... more
