YEAR 3.7

A friend of a friend was looking for a DJ for his trials bicycle show, so I spent some time choosing tracks (about 10, listed later on when I get around to it), ordering them, and setting up the effects and eq's. Then I took one run through it and it came out very well. One of my best mixes. Smooth, punchy, fun, and just a little wacky at times. All the tracks somehow go together, because they have a few things in common that are hard to describe but not that difficult to perceive. Very different from each other in enough ways though.

Believe it or not, the quick cue stabs and complex speed-ups and slow-downs from 15:6 to 57:3 end you up in the same spot in the timing as if they hadn't happened. A bit of an illusion, and hard to check mentally. I had to time it using Serato to find out. This is because I can't remember if I did it manually and kind of got lucky (because this is very difficult to do with only 3 years experience) or did it with the track on two decks and kept switching to the baseline one, as i usually do for quick fill-ins, etc.

"Carny (Original Mix)" by Pleasurekraft on Carny 6:16 125 This song stuck in my mind around 2011 (heard it at Sunset Room) and I liked it so much I recorded it on my cheap flip phone and asked probably 30 people over 2 or 3 years what it was. One day at The Loft I heard it again! I ran over to my friend and said I'd give him 20 bucks if he could find out what it was. I don't like asking DJ's usually, because I know how intense it can get up there. Then I spotted a DJ I'd seen play an awesome set before at Sunset Room on Halloween, and he knew it! Bingo, I'd found it.
